Documentation Getting started

Your first research

From a confirmed Dutch address to an evidence-backed report.

On this page

1. Confirm the site

Open Start research, enter a Dutch postcode and house number, then choose Find address. Select the exact matching address from the results.

Address search uses PDOK. The subsequent research resolves the selected address ID again and checks that the response refers to the same address. Search text alone is not treated as a confirmed site.

Changing the postcode or house number clears the previous confirmation. Find and select the address again before continuing. Nationwide lookup is supported, but a valid address does not guarantee that every downstream source has usable data.

2. Describe the project

Choose rooftop solar, battery storage, charging or electrification. Add planned power and, where relevant, battery storage or annual electricity use. Supply the current connection class or an exact connection rating if you know it.

These are user assumptions, not verified measurements. In particular, planned installation power is not proof of existing connection capacity. See Project inputs for field meanings and units.

3. Run the research

Select Run research. The browser creates an owner-scoped job and displays progress while the worker executes it. Source stages report their actual state, followed by writing, review and quality checks.

  • Working means the recorded stage has started.
  • Finished means the stage completed; it does not mean the whole report passed.
  • Needs attention preserves a source gap or failed check.
  • Retry and correction activity is shown when it actually occurs.

A disconnected browser is not proof that work stopped. The interface can reconnect or retrieve saved state; it distinguishes recorded activity from a live connection.

4. Review the findings

Read the summary, grid context, site information, options, public guidance, next steps and verification details. Follow the citations to the underlying evidence and check its scope and dates.

If a source is unavailable, the report must say so rather than infer a building fact or a zero value. If a check fails, the result can remain blocked even after a repair attempt.

5. Save or continue

Use the PDF download for a standalone report. The export uses the saved report rather than generating a new analysis. Sources start on a separate page, and unvalidated reports retain draft labeling.

To change project assumptions, edit the inputs and start a new run. Configuration and input snapshots belong to each run; changing today’s settings does not rewrite an earlier report.

Keep the same browser session when returning to a run. Knowing a run URL does not grant access: saved reports and downloads remain owner-scoped.

GridPreview is a prototype. Documentation describes the implementation, not a guarantee of source availability or a professional assessment.
